NYPD Detective Mike Logan, who was demoted to a beat on Staten Island after punching a corrupt politician, seeks to solve the grisly murder of a prostitute and thereby help regain his old job in Manhattan.

Mike Logan, a New York police detective, was working in Manhattan. He was sent to Staten Island following an incident in which he publicly assaulted someone he thought got away with something illegal. While on his way to work, he comes across a body floating in the river. He decides to assert jurisdiction, which doesnt make his boss happy. But Mike hopes that solving the case could get him back to Manhattan. But the investigation takes Mike to his old precinct.
