Story: Darcys been striving for the perfect Christmas since childhood and, thanks to a magical figurine, her dream finally comes true.

As a kid, Darcy (Thompson) had no control over her familys holidays, so she has grown up to be a Christmas control freak--so much so that she loses sight of what the holiday actually means. Suddenly she finds herself magically transported into her idea of the perfect Christmas Village and learns that perfection isnt all its cracked up to be.

Darcy, a graphic designer at a greeting card company, has always dreamed of having what she considers the perfect Christmas, which she imagines is just like the model of the Irish village she saw in the Christmas-store window when she was young, just like what she figures her Irish mother had as a Christmas environment when she was a child. She now recreates that model in exactly the same position in her house every Christmas. She envisions that perfect Christmas to include Tom, a copywriter at the greeting card company; she believes he is the only person who truly understands her need for perfection. A perfect Christmas never occurred in her childhood; her now-divorced parents Sylvia and Bill were always arguing, so her home life was unhappy. She also feels she must control everything for the first Christmas to happen, but something has always gone wrong. A constant since her childhood has been her best friend Brandon, who has always been there for her, but who she considers only a platonic friend since they are too different in temperament to be anything more. After she hosts a less-than-perfect Thanksgiving dinner for her parents, Brandon, and her somewhat gloomy friend and co-worker Carmen, Darcy stumbles across that same Christmas store which she no longer thought existed, and proprietor Elsie gives her a gift figurine that looks exactly like her. She places the figurine into the Irish village model she has at home; the next morning she awakens to find herself in the middle of her Christmas village. Every day is her perfect Christmas, and those around her are Irish versions of their perfect selves: her parents are together and happy; Carmen is the town mayor, beloved by all; and Tom, who has never shown romantic interest in Darcy in real life, is her boyfriend, who caters to her every need for Christmas perfection. The one person missing is Brandon--until, in real life, he too stumbles into the same shop to buy a peace offering to make amends for his part in not making Thanksgiving what Darcy wanted, and stumbles out of the shop with a figurine that looks exactly like him and places it in the Irish-village display in Darcys house. Then he, as himself, is magically whisked into Darcys new Irish-village Christmas everyday life. Within this scenario, Darcy might get a new view of her real life versus what she considered her perfect Christmas every day.
