Story: Tom and five older respected business men run the Sierra mine. When Tom leaves for Europe to fight in WW1, everything is OK. When he returns after the war he finds his former assistant not only in control of the mine but the whole town. Tom Allen(Tom Keene) manages the Sierra mine owned by five local businessmen, but when Tom is called for service in WWI he turns the mine management over to his trusted assistant Bert King(Eddie Phillips).King,several miles removed from being either trustworthy or honest,begins to cook the books and, with the aid of mine foreman Krueger(Stanley Blystone), steal the gold.When one of the partners uncovers his activities he is killed by King, who frames another partner, Daniel Plummer(Lafe McKee).Plummer escapes jail with the aid of his remaining partners, and they go into hiding and exile and begin to rob the shipments made by King.Returning from the war, with Ed Wimpy(Edgar Kennedy), an American-stranded-in France and driving a taxi cab,Tom, who loves Plummers daughter Patricia/Pat/Mike(Betty Furness)persuades the old timers to give themselves up and let the law work for them.But King forms and leads a lynch mob so Tom helps them escape and tells them to cross the border until he can clear them. King, knowing things are getting too hot,plans one last haul, loads the mine truck and hires eastern gangsters to guard it.When King is shot by one of the hoods(or thug, since this is one of the few westerns where the term thug can correctly be applied to henchmen)he confesses and clears the old men, but Tom learns that they have gone to attack the truck and he rides to save them from the well-armed gangsters/thugs.And, with the aid of uncredited stuntman Yakima Canutt, does just that.Edgar Kennedys brother Tom Kennedy has an uncredited bit as a bouncer in France.
