Story: A man accused of killing his mistress twenty years previously is arrested again on suspicion of murdering his wife.

Twenty years after being cleared in the death of his mistress, Judge Rusty Sabich is charged with the murder of his late wife. During the trial, a secret affair from Rustys recent past threatens to hamper his defense and fracture his relationship with his son.

Sequel to the movie Presumed Innocent wherein Rusty Sabich, an Assistant D.A. was charged with killing the woman he was having an affair with. While Sabich was not convicted, his innocence was not really established. So Tommy Molto, the man who prosecuted Sabich is looking for another chance at him. Sabichs wife died and it appears that she may have committed suicide but Molto assistant wants to investigate and he discovers circumstantial evidence that points to Sabich. It seems like Sabich was having an affair and his wife, who killed his mistress, was suspecting him of it which he denies. So Sabich calls Sandy Stern the man who defended him the last time to defend him again.
