Story: In 1990s Pittsburgh, a medicine peddler starts a relationship with a young woman suffering from Parkinsons disease.

Maggie (Hathaway) is an alluring free spirit who wont let anyone - or anything - tie her down. But she meets her match in Jamie (Gyllenhaal), whose relentless and nearly infallible charm serve him well with the ladies and in the cutthroat world of pharmaceutical sales. Maggie and Jamies evolving relationship takes them both by surprise, as they find themselves under the influence of the ultimate drug: love.

1996. Jamie dallies with the managers wife and loses his job selling electronics. He takes his smile to Pfizer, becoming a drug rep in Pittsburgh. While trying to convince an internist to prescribe Zoloft instead of Prozac, Jamie meets Maggie, whose wit and energetic sex without attachment match his feckless charm. Early-onset Parkinsons adds to her mistrust of attachments. Jamie starts to fall for her about the time Viagra hits the market and makes him a sales superstar. When he becomes her knight errant in quest of a cure, she makes it clear that pity, entangling alliances, and being defined by her disease are off the table. Cant she just have fun?
