A story involving action, adventure, romance, crime and comedy (and lots of stock footage) against the background of large-scale bridge building involving a father, Pop Evans, and his three sons, "Rocky", Chuck and Pete. "Rocky", in addition to taking pride in his profession, is romancing Helen Powers, daughter of the president of the construction company, and is doing okay in both pursuits until younger-and-shiftless brother Chuck moves in on Helen, causing more than a few problems between the brothers, despite the efforts of "Pop" who tries to keep the feminine wiles of Helen from breaking up his home and family.

Following in their retired Pop Aloysius Evans footsteps, brothers Rocky Evans and Pete Evans build bridges, they working high above the ground or water with few safety measures to prevent falls. The brothers are currently on the same construction team of a major bridge project, Rocky one of the dedicated construction foremen, Pete, who is actually afraid of heights, on his crew. Their younger brother Chuck Evans has no interest in the business, he always searching for the quick and easy buck, his latest get rich quick scheme, in conjunction with a quack of a scientist named Rupert Sampson, being to develop and then market a revolutionary, new construction material called samsonite, they who are looking for sucker investors. Rocky is currently dating the boss daughter, Helen Powers, the two of them who unknowingly may not be on the same page as to the status of their relationship. Chuck eventually decides to join the construction team to gain a little respectability in his life. The reason for Chucks change of focus is that he and Helen have fallen in love with each other on first sight. What happens between the brothers, now with Helen entering into the equation, is played out within their precarious work situation, which is only exacerbated by the arrival onto the scene of a disgruntled ex-employee and an imminent ferocious storm.
