Story: An anthology of horror, consisting of four segments all themed around gory subjects.

"Subconscious Cruelty" is divided in four segments: ********Ovarian Eyeball - a naked woman is sliced by a sharp blade and an eyeball is removed from her belly. *********Human Larvae - a deranged man that hates his sister that is pregnant kills her newborn offspring and she during the delivery. *******Rebirth - a group of naked people rolls around in mud and blood. *************Right Brain/Martyrdom - religious symbolism associated with gore and sex.

Shot over five years from 1994 to 1999 before premiering at the 2000 Sitges Film Festival, Subconscious Cruelty has been the subject of considerable controversy. And, with its surreal, almost avant garde imagery filled with violence and nudity thats hardly surprising. Even now it remains a polarizing film. Is it art? Is it obscene, (Canadian customs actually seized a copy of it on those grounds.) Is it just pretentious garbage?
