Episode Info: New boss Robert Strickland asks the team to reopen the case of David Barrie, a barrister found dead, bound and gagged, in his car in the 1980s. The case was a rare instance of officer-in-charge Ronnie Rosss not getting his man. Chief suspect Michael, now a transsexual called Michaela, had an alibi, but Michaela is involved with Elaine Wanless, a former brothel-keeper who reveals the dead mans penchant for bondage. The team is convinced that both know more about the death than they claim.

Story: Three retired police officers are drafted in to solve cold cases, with a touch of comedy and drama

After a hostage rescue goes wrong, superintendent Sandra Pullman is put in charge of unsolved crimes. With little resources and no back-up, she decides to recruit three ex-policeman. However, times have changed, unlike her new recruits. Jack Halford has yet to get over the loss of his wife, Brian Lane is over-obsessed and over-medicated, and Gerry Standing is not quite the ladies man he used to be. They might have the experience but its not like the old days. Not only are they chasing criminals, but they are dealing with a new police force which does not always appreciate their old-style policing.
