Story: A compassionate teacher returns to his inner city high school of his youth to teach a new generation of trouble making kids.

Gabe Kotter is a high-school teacher with a bunch of unruly students in his class. The student troublemakers are led by Vinnie Barbarino, who has a knack for rhyming insults.

Former Sweathog Gabe Kotter returns to his alma mater, Buchanan High School (located in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, NY) to teach a new generation of Sweathogs, a group of supposedly unteachable, under-achieving and incorrigible students. They were Vinnie Barbarino, the groups; wisecracking leader; Juan Epstein, a Puerto Rican Jew; dimwitted Arnold Horshack; and cool Freddie "Boom-Boom" Washington. Gabe had to try to reach out to these students by relating his own experiences to the students, but was often hindered in his efforts by cantankerous vice-principal, Michael Woodman.
