Episode Info: Sarah is steered toward a singing career by a "well-connected" man, named Tony. But Maguire correctly suspects that Tony is interested in more than Sarahs music which she asks a reluctant Maguire to pose as her boyfriend to Tony. Meanwhile, J.B. is unavailable to celebrate Romys success when she lands a small roll on a TV soap opera when he renews a secret relationship with Joan, a wealthy older woman whom he relies on for his income and personal pleasure.

Story: In a spin off from "Party of Five," Sarah leaves the Salingers behind to search for her birth-father in New York.

In this spinoff from the series "Party of Five," Sarah Reeves leaves San Francisco to get away from her pampered life and start a new one for herself in New York City where her late biological mother lived as well as to find her biological father that she has never met. Changing her last name to Merrin (her birth mothers last name) Sarah settles in the same apartment where her mother lived which she shares with Romy Sullivan, a struggling actress and younger version of Sarahs mother, while she makes new friends who include struggling musician John Maguire, bar waitress Joss House, their freakish landlord Cecilia, and a friendly neighbor named J.B.
